Moody Rustic Wedding

COUPLE NAMES: Cynthia & Christoph

Bride: @hexeblume
Groom: @coldvoidciiivi

WEDDING DATE: Saturday October 13th, 2018

WEDDING LOCATION: An AirBnb! The Log Cabin in the Woods, Alstead, NH. This location was a rustic log cabin in the middle of nowhere at the peak of fall foliage in New England.

HOW AND WHERE DID YOU MEET: We met through friends, even though he lived in Europe, and I lived in New England. We got to know each other and spent time in the other’s country. We knew that it was special from early on, and he took to caring for my sons like they had always been his own. We decided to make our family official, and so we planned this ceremony to share with our friends and family.

WEDDING THEME:  Moody & Rustic

We wanted this wedding to be simple, but lovely. We are also very nontraditional. Firstly, we are a blended family consisting of me, my sons and now my husband. Secondly, we appreciate ancient magic and history so we wanted to try to use that as the basis for our ceremony. Our younger son bore our rings, and our older son gave me away.
For our theme, we picked a creative black tie that incorporated our ethereal and elegant looks, while still keeping our budget low.

It rained all morning, and it was cold. When we thought the rain let up, we gathered people on the balcony overlooking the fall foliage and mountains, but it began to downpour! The rain finally let up later in the afternoon, and we had a gorgeous day.

My dress was not white, and I did not wear a veil. I wore a gold dress because I felt like it made my strength shine, and I wore a black cape, not only because I think it looks amazing, but because I basically wanted to wear a blanket all day. In combination with fleece lined leggings under my black tights, the cape was really warm and amazing.

We wanted the magic of the cabin to really speak for itself, so we kept our decorations minimal with spray painted mini pumpkins, LED lights, upcycled wine bottles, and eco friendly disposable dining ware. Our gifts were mason jar glasses that we painted for our guests to write their names on and reuse all night.
We also tossed in our own good omens such as our runes on our handmade altar, a warm wood stove, and a hand fasting ceremony.
We spent all night dancing to an exclusively 80s playlist, as that is the only type of music to which both my husband and I can agree on listening.

The whole day goes by so quickly. Make sure you’re getting all the photos you want (my photographer anticipated my whim, so I was lucky).
You also will be in control of very little that day, so have a plan and communicate with your loved ones about your wishes because you will 100% be in the chair with your hair being pulled in 50 different directions and something will fall apart with you completely powerless to help (hopefully a few mimosas deep at that point).

My high priestess @blockade_mindwar performed a neo-pagan handfasting ceremony with an elemental blessing.
My best friend catered for me. @chef_terzic
We had 4 different kinds of tacos, along with sides. He even made sure that I had plenty of vegan food because he knows how challenging it can be for me to dine anywhere outside of my home.

We only drank his friends favorite beers, homemade margaritas, and prosecco. It was amazing.

My cake was made by Whole Foods in Bedford,NH. @wholefoodsnh
It’s a vegan 3 tiered Raspberry Lemonade Cake. We also had a bunch of vegan cupcakes. Vegans and non-vegans alike devoured the cake.

I had my ring custom made by @bloodmilk jewelry. It is an Endless Night Part II ring in a 5.75. It was specially crafted in Philadelphia, and shipped in time for the ceremony.

The bridesmaids all wore fake fur stoles and ordered all of their dresses from Azazie. They arrived on time, with minimal additional tailoring needed (if any), and came true to their free color swatch. It was affordable, and seriously a huge relief.

Love Cynthia
